CFLPA Elects Mike Benson as the Association’s 3rd Vice President

During it’s 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM), the Canadian Football League Players’ Association (CFLPA) held an election to fill it’s vacant board spot. The CFLPA is proud to announce that Mike Benson has been elected to the board of directors as 3rd Vice President. Benson, effectively immediately will fill the board seat previously held by current Executive Director, David Mackie.
 
“On behalf of our entire association, I would like to welcome Mike Benson to our Board of Directors,” said CFLPA President, Solomon Elimimian,. “I look forward to continue working with this board to further our objectives and represent our members both on and off the field to the best of our abilities.”

Calgary Stampeders Week 1 Recap: Breaking Down What Still Needs Work

Just because the Calgary Stampeders won in week one, it doesn’t mean they don’t have things to work on.  Sometimes wins can hide issues. Good teams don’t let that happen; they continue to improve, regardless of the results.  Here are some of the week 1 mistakes that Calgary needs to improve if they want to enjoy a successful season. Offense Scoring 38 points and winning is obviously not a bad game. But the Calgary Stampeders’ offense wasn’t perfect. There is still plenty of room for improvement.  The biggest issue was turnovers. Vernon Adams Jr. threw two interceptions. Adams had an overall good day (19/28 for 284 yards), but he will need to take care of the ball better in the future.  The Stampeders also had a turnover on downs on a failed QB sneak attempt by P.J. Montreal Sends Strong Message As Toronto Loses First Season Opener Under Dinwiddie

In a matchup between the CFL’s last two Grey Cup Champions. The Toronto Argonauts fell to the Montreal Alouettes 28-10 in their season-opening game at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium, marking their first opening-weekend loss under head coach Ryan Dinwiddie. The game, a rematch of the last three Eastern Finals, saw the Alouettes, led by newly anointed starting quarterback Davis Alexander, capitalize on Toronto’s mistakes to secure a convincing victory. Week 2 of the 2025 CFL Season sees the defending Grey Cup Champion Toronto Argonauts kick off their home schedule at BMO Field against the Calgary Stampeders . Saturday afternoon’s game is intended to be a celebration of the Argos’ Grey Cup 111 victory and their 19th overall CFL championship in front of their loyal Double Blue crowd. But Toronto is looking to turn the page on what was an uninspiring 2025 debut in Montreal. Still without superstar quarterback Chad Kelly, and sporting 13 new starters in their lineup.
