CFL News Hub Power Rankings. The Aftermath of Week 6.
It was a small week in regards to scheduled games played for week 6 of the 2025 CFL schedule. Three games were planned, consisting of Calgary in Saskatchewan, Ottawa in Hamilton, and B.C. in Edmonton. We also had a game postponed due to poor air quality in Regina, Saskatchewan. The original kickoff date on Friday, July 11th, was then postponed to Saturday, July 12th, at 4:00 pm EST.
Here are your CFL News Hub Power Rankings after week 6.
For a team that missed the playoffs last year, there were a few writers who had Calgary possibly having another bad season in 2025. Calgary entered a hostile environment in Regina and silenced the critics in week 6. What was the most impressive stat for Calgary was that they shut down the Saskatchewan running game to only 16 yards in the game. Calgary came with a vengeance in this game and set the tone physically. As for the naysayers, at least for the moment, Calgary is playing some great football.

Next game: Friday, July 18th in Winnipeg
Previous ranking: 1
Record: 4-1
Any team at any given week can have a bad game. It’s just the way it is in football. When that whistle blows to start the game, any team has a chance to win. The problem for Saskatchewan was not so much the scoreboard, losing 24-10 to Calgary. It was 562 total yards allowed. The score did not dictate the flow of the game. Saskatchewan had a difficult time halting Calgary’s momentum.
Next game: Saturday, July 19th at B.C.
Previous ranking: 3
Record: 3-1
Winnipeg was on a bye for week 6.
Next game: Friday, July 18th, vs. Calgary.
Previous ranking: 4
Record: 3-2
It was not a pretty win for Hamilton. But, a win is a win. What Hamilton did well in this game was to ride the wave and stay within distance to win the game. The play of both Bo Levi Mitchell and Kenny Lawler was key for the second week in a row. Hamilton did drop key passes in key moments in the game. Some were bad throws by Bo Levi Mitchell. Hamilton did enough to win this game in the 4th quarter to turn this around. More importantly, Hamilton currently sits with a 3-0 record against teams in the East Division.
Next game: Sunday, July 20th at Ottawa
Previous ranking: 5
Record: 3-2
Montreal was on a bye for week 6.
Next game: Thursday, July 17th, vs. Toronto.
6, BC Lions
Previous ranking: 6
Record: 3-3
What B.C. did against Edmonton was a team that seemed to be on a mission. Whatever they wanted to do to Edmonton, they did. Nathan Rourke was in command, moving the ball and stretching the Edmonton defence. Keon Hatcher had 130 yards, Stanley Berryhill had 80 yards, and Jevon Cottoy had 74 yards. It’s not often you see an offence have a time of possession of 42:54 in a football game. Tonight was one of those days.
Next game: Saturday, July 19th vs. Saskatchewan
For Ottawa, it’s becoming the same trend. The Redblacks are experiencing difficulties in either closing a game or extending a lead this season. To add to this, the 2nd half is an area they need to improve on moving forward. Hamilton shot themselves in the foot on a few occasions this week, and Ottawa was unable to exploit Hamilton in the 4th quarter to take a victory.
Previous ranking: 8
Record: 1-5
Next game: Sunday, July 20th vs. Hamilton
Previous ranking: 7
Record: 1-4
What positives can we say about Edmonton? This is a tough one. It’s a team that has been trying to find an identity for close to five years now. Unfortunately, the results seem to be the same. This was a game against B.C., where a lot of Edmonton fans felt a bit more optimistic. Let’s just put it out there that the Edmonton offence has got to get going. A total time of possession of 17:06 will not come close to winning any football game. When the transition to an Edmonton defence came into fruition, being on the field for 42.54 was not on the defence. They say defence wins you championships. And it does. But the offence needs to help out on their part.
Next game: Edmonton will be on a bye for week 7. Their next game will be on Friday, July 25th, in Saskatchewan.
Previous ranking: 9
Record: 1-4
Toronto was on a bye for week 6.
Next game: Thursday, July 17th, in Montreal.
