Tiger-Cats Bolster Roster with P Green and RB Watts
After starting 2025 with back-to-back losses, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats have come back from their Week 3 bye week with three straight wins. Those wins are against the Montreal Alouettes, Toronto Argonauts, and the Ottawa Redblacks in the East division. Those wins have allowed the Tiger-Cats (3-2) to tie for first place in the East division with the Montreal Alouettes (3-2).
Hamilton’s recent success has allowed the Tiger-Cats players and coaches to shift their focus from turning around their season to extending a winning streak. To help with Hamilton’s effort to continue building momentum and maintaining their place at the top of the East division, Hamilton has added some key reinforcements to their roster. On the Hamilton X account, Hamilton announced that they have officially signed Global punter Josh Green and American running back Shane Watts.
One of Hamilton’s most recent additions to their roster is Australian punter Josh Green. The Tiger-Cats selected Green with their 8th overall pick in the 2025 CFL Global draft. Initially, the Tiger-Cats signed Green in May, but then he was released during training camp before the start of the 2025 season.
The 6’1″ punter from Adelaide, Australia, played college football at Oregon State University from 2022 until 2024. While playing for the Beavers, Green punted the ball 66 times and averaged 44.7 yards/punt. During his Senior year at Oregon State, 15 of Green’s punts pinned the Beavers’ opponents inside their 20-yard line, and he had 16 punts over 50 yards.
In addition to adding Green back to their roster, the Tiger-Cats have also signed American running back Shane Watts to reinforce their offensive backfield. Recently, Hamilton has dealt with injuries to running back Greg Bell, but Bell participated in practice today, and Watts was not present. So Hamilton is adding Bell just for extra depth at the running back position.
Watts played college football at NCAA Division II Fort Hays State University from 2021 until 2024. During his time at Fort Hays State, Watts played in 44 games for the Tigers and carried the ball 334 times for 1,971 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns. In addition to his rushing stats, Watts also caught 61 passes for 606 receiving yards.
