Preview – Rematch Bombers vs Stampeders

Image
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be looking for a much better outing this week against the Calgary Stampeders after falling to Calgary by an astonishing score of 37-16 in Week 5. Losing to Calgary in the inaugural Stampede Bowl put the Bombers at a 3-1 record. But it was not the loss that was concerning, it was how they lost. Colloaros threw two pick 6’s and allowed Vernon Adams to do something he has been unable to do all season up until that point, throw a touchdown pass. Well, now the Bombers had a bye week to regroup, and fans will be expecting, not hoping, but rather expecting a better performance by the Bombers. In front of another sold out crowd, the Bombers need to put up a better effort or they will certainly be hearing it from the fans. These Bomber fans are engaged, smart, and they know football. I do not want to say that they know football better than any other fan base in the CFL, but they are right up there. They know what good football looks like, and they know wh...

Ailing Argos Face Uphill Battle Against Alouettes Tonight

Image
Argos Uphill Battle: Facing the Montreal Alouettes in Week 7 of the 2025 CFL Season As the Toronto Argonauts (1-4) prepare to take on the Montreal Alouettes (3-2) tonight at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium, the defending Grey Cup champions find themselves in unfamiliar territory. With a dismal start to the 2025 CFL season, the Argos are grappling with injuries, defensive woes, and an offense struggling to find its rhythm. Toronto is off to its worst season start since the Michael Pinball Clemons/Ryan Diwiddie era began. In theory, the Boatmen should be benefiting coming off a much-needed bye week. But Week 7 has arrived, and there is still no Chad Kelly in sight. To make matters worse, Toronto has lost its best offensive linemen, Ryan Hunter, to a freak accident. Reigning  CFL top lineman Ryan Hunter  suffered a serious shoulder injury this week when he was hit by a car while riding a scooter. Team officials have confirmed that Hunter is expected to be out at least six ...

Game Preview: Calgary Stampeders (4-1) vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers (3-1)

Image
The rematch between the Calgary Stampeders and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers might just be the biggest game of the early season. Don’t let the fact that Calgary beat Winnipeg comfortably just two weeks ago fool you ; this is a big matchup. The two teams are ranked 1st and 3rd, respectively, in the CFL News Hub Power Rankings . And, they also sit in 1st and 3rd position in the West Division. Will Calgary start to gain some separation in the West Division standings? or Will Winnipeg come out and prove that their early-season loss to the Stamps was simply an off day? Either way, it will be a fun matchup to watch. Game Details Date and Time: Friday, July 18, 8:30 PM (ET) Location: Princess Auto Stadium, Winnipeg, MB Broadcast: CBSSN, CFL+ , and TSN Betting Odds per FanDuel (July 17th) Spread: Blue Bombers: -3.5 Moneyline: Calgary Stampeders : +146, Winnipeg Blue Bombers: -176 Over/Under : 49.5 Calgary Stampeders Keys to Victo...

Schoen Injury Prone? And Should The Bombers Have Kept Lawler?

Image
They say the best ability is availability; and right now Schoen is listed as “doubtful.” Having missed all three practices this week to a knee injury, some Bomber fans are taking to social media suggesting that the Bombers should have kept Lawler instead. Kenny Lawler has already set a season high 7 receiving touchdowns! The record for most touchdowns in a single season is 23, and that record is held by a man that will be visiting Process Auto Stadium on Friday – Milt Stegall. Lawler has also caught his longest pass of his season this year, for 79 yards, and has a career best receiving average. So, when fans are wondering if the Bombers made the right choice; it is really hard to fault the fan. Especially, when you looks at Schoen’s numbers so far this year. A case could be made that it is not all Schoen’s fault, and that Collaros simply has not been playing as well as he should be. However, in 2023 when both receivers were catching balls from Collaros,...

Are the 2025 Calgary Stampeders for Real?

Image
The Calgary Stampeders are off to a red-hot 4-1 start. As much as I want to keep reminding people that it’s early in the season, and we shouldn’t read too much into it. The question keeps getting louder with each passing week. Are the Calgary Stampeders for real? Before the season, most writers were pessimistic about the Stamps’ season outlook. Which was fair enough considering they missed the playoffs for the first time in 20 years. But now they’re in first place in the West Division. They have also jumped to first in the CFL News Hub Power Rankings . But, is this just early-season success? Or, are they legit title contenders? There are signs that point both ways. Calgary Stampeder Offense The Calgary Stampeders’ offense is currently averaging 24 points per game. That’s not the most impressive average in the league, but they have done enough to get the job done so far. They also boast an impressive collection of offensive weapons, w...

Tiger-Cats Bolster Roster with P Green and RB Watts

After starting 2025 with back-to-back losses, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats have come back from their Week 3 bye week with three straight wins. Those wins are against the Montreal Alouettes, Toronto Argonauts, and the Ottawa Redblacks in the East division. Those wins have allowed the Tiger-Cats (3-2) to tie for first place in the East division with the Montreal Alouettes (3-2). Hamilton’s recent success has allowed the Tiger-Cats players and coaches to shift their focus from turning around their season to extending a winning streak. To help with Hamilton’s effort to continue building momentum and maintaining their place at the top of the East division, Hamilton has added some key reinforcements to their roster. On the Hamilton X account , Hamilton announced that they have officially signed Global punter Josh Green and American running back Shane Watts. Damien Alford: A Star in the Making For the Calgary Stampeders?

Image
The Calgary Stampeders might just have a future star on their hands in rookie Damien Alford. Alford played sparingly in the first couple of games, but in just his first start, he established himself as one of Vernon Adams Jr.’s favorite targets. American players make up a large portion of the stars in today’s CFL. But, don’t let that fool you, the Canadian players are the heart of the league. Alford, the number one pick in this year’s draft , might just be the next big name Canadian. Damien Alford’s Breakout Game The impressive 24-10 win over Saskatchewan put the Calgary Stampeders in 1st place in the West. But that wasn’t the only storyline of the game. Damien Alford had a huge day to establish himself as a force to be reckoned with. 6 catches 156 yards 2 touchdowns The statline wasn’t the most impressive part. The most impressive part was the skill set he showed off on the way to that stat line. Play one MOOOOOOSE 🫎 pic.twitter.com/...

CFL News Hub Power Rankings. The Aftermath of Week 6.

It was a small week in regards to scheduled games played for week 6 of the 2025 CFL schedule. Three games were planned, consisting of Calgary in Saskatchewan, Ottawa in Hamilton, and B.C. in Edmonton. We also had a game postponed due to poor air quality in Regina, Saskatchewan. The original kickoff date on Friday, July 11th, was then postponed to Saturday, July 12th, at 4:00 pm EST. Here are your CFL News Hub Power Rankings after week 6. 1, Calgary Stampeders For a team that missed the playoffs last year, there were a few writers who had Calgary possibly having another bad season in 2025. Calgary entered a hostile environment in Regina and silenced the critics in week 6. What was the most impressive stat for Calgary was that they shut down the Saskatchewan running game to only 16 yards in the game. Calgary came with a vengeance in this game and set the tone physically. As for the naysayers, at least for the moment, Calgary is playing some great football.     ...

Game Details: Date/Location: Sunday, July 13 /Commonwealth Stadium, Edmonton, AB Kickoff Time: 7:00:00 PM ET, 4:00 PM PT Channel: TSN (Canada), CFL+ (USA, Global) Odds:  Spread: B.C. -2.5 (-105), Edmonton +2.5 (-115) Moneyline: B.C. -142, Edmonton +118 Over/Under: 51.5 (Over -106, Under -114) B.C. Lions (2-3): The BC Lions won last week on a 43-yard field goal from Sean Whyte to defeat Montreal 21-20 in part thanks to Montreal’s defenders rushing to make a tackle following a 13-yard pass to Jevon Cottoy on the previous play. This helped ensure there was time left on the clock for a Sean Whyte field goal. This was reminiscent of a game in 2023 in which Hamilton had a defender quickly make a tackle that saved time on the clock for Sean Wh...
